Why Gisele Bndchen Skipped the 2024 Met Gala
The 2024 Met Gala is officially upon us, aka the one night a year when actors, singers, models, artists, and influencers are all invited at the same place. Which brings us to supermodel Gisele Bündchen, who...actually didn’t show up on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art despite reports that she was pulling up. Instead, she shared a link on her Instagram Stories to donate to the Brazil Foundation’s Luz Alliance Fund.
The night before the Met Gala, Gisele made headlines because of some punchlines that were aimed at her during her ex, Tom Brady’s roast. On Monday night, a source told People, “[She was] deeply disappointed by the disrespectful portrayal of her family on Sunday evening’s roast show.” The insider added, “As always, [Gisele’s] priority is to support her children who were affected by the irresponsible content that was broadcasted.”

For those of you wondering, Gisele didn’t attend the 2024 Met Gala with her boyfriend, Miami-based jiujitsu instructor Joaquim Valente. The pair started dating after Gisele and Tom Brady got divorced in 2022, and according to a People source, they aren’t rushing into things (“things” like official red carpet appearances).
“They have been dating since June. They’re taking it slow. They started out as great friends first,” the insider said. “She’s very private about this and wanted to keep it quiet while they got to know each other.”
The source added, “They come from similar backgrounds. They both left Brazil very young. They have both created amazing lives for themselves in the U.S. They both love Miami but also enjoy traveling. They both enjoy healthy living. Gisele’s in a great space. She is happy and very much enjoying life. Joaquim is perfect for her. Joaquim is a great guy. He is down-to-earth, kind, and inspiring. Gisele was hesitant about dating after the divorce. It’s been very natural for her to date Joaquim.”
