Who was Justin Eely, who One Day is dedicated to?
One Day has just dropped on Netflix and if you want a romantic comedy to binge-watch this month, then you need to put this on your list. But, who was Justin Eely?
The series, based on David Nicholl's best-selling book, follows two friends, Emma Morley and Dexter Mayhew, from when they first meet at university all the way into their adulthood.
The final episode of the series was dedicated to Justin Eely, so here is who he was and why episode 14 was dedicated to him.
Who was Justin Eely?
Justin was a finishing editor based in London who worked on One Day. Previously, he also worked on other popular shows such as The Crown, Bodies, Extraordinary, Killing Eve and more.
According to his IMDb, he was involved in the film and TV industry for more than 20 years on over 100 different productions. As a finishing editor, his role is likely to have been making edits to the final part of a production before it's released.
His previous employer said he was someone "anyone would want on their team" and loved "the process of collaborating with the many creative people who visit his edit suite during the finishing phase of their shows."
It's not known exactly when he passed away, but from his social media profiles, it looks to have been within the last six months or so. He also left behind a daughter and partner.
We don't think One Day would have been the show it is without Justin.
One Day is on Netflix now.
