I tried and tested Rihanna's skincare range

Let's address the elephant in the room, this has been reformulated from a chemical sunscreen to a mineral formulation. It might not sound like a big deal, but it is for a number of reasons.
"There’s a lot of controversy and misunderstanding around chemical sunscreens specifically in regards to coral reef harm and possible absorption into our bloodstream," says Lu. "However, despite all of the negative attention, there still isn’t enough data and understanding to justify not using this category of sunscreens. This is especially important because this category provides better textures and doesn’t come with the same white cast woes that mineral sunscreens have. While this may sound trivial, these aspects are incredibly important to user compliance."
"Mineral sunscreens don’t come with the same scrutiny as chemical sunscreens and are typically recommended for those with sensitive, compromised skin types. Just note that these come with a tradeoff since mineral formulas typically don’t have the best textures and are typically heavy and greasy on the skin. They also can leave quite a white cast which is not ideal for darker skin tones," she says.
This was my favourite product from the range before the reformulation, but the new one doesn't quite hit. It doesn't leave my skin looking as juicy as the OG and doesn't provide the same amount of hydration. It's not bad, but it doesn't make me want to apply my SPF like the previous one did. As Lu puts it: "Just remember that good sunscreen protection means you’re applying enough of the product on the skin and you’re willing to reapply the product".
