A Fashion Editor's honest thoughts

When it comes to the hardest working items in your wardrobe, jewellery is certainly up there, along with handbags and boots. But when our jewellery comes into contact with sunscreen, water, hand sanitiser, and sweat, it can mean that some of our favourite sparkling pieces fall prey to tarnishing. Whether you've bought a necklace from a high street shop, or invested a pretty penny in something gold (or gold plated), having your jewellery go all discoloured ain't a vibe. If this is all sounding familiar, there's one affordable jewellery brand that I wanna introduce you to called Hey Harper.

The brand's mission is to democratise high-quality designer jewellery. This basically means that they make fashion-forward pieces which look super spenny but are very reasonably priced. Plus – and this is the best bit – Hey Harper is waterproof, so tarnishing ain't gonna cramp your style this summer. "Jewellery doesn’t need to be gold or expensive to be long lasting – it needs quality, and that’s not a luxury but a standard," says Hey Harper Founder and CEO, Catarina Oliveira.

So how does it stay waterproof and tarnish-free, you ask? Well, it's a bit science-y, but stay with me. Whereas other jewellery brands often use gold or silver plating, Hey Harper uses a thing called 'Physical Vapor Deposition' (or PVD). PVD is apparently a 10 times stronger coating process than the gold or silver types. In fact, they're so confident in the longevity of their jewellery that Hey Harper offers a lifetime colour warranty.

I've got the Grace huggie hoop earrings and the Eloise bracelet, both of which feel as good as quality as they look. They're that nice weight that makes the piece feel substantial without, for example, weighing my earlobe down.

And it's not just the Cosmo Fashion Team who are big fans of the brand. So is Elizabeth Debicki who wore the label's jewels while portraying Princess Diana in season six of The Crown. The late Princess made chunky gold earrings her signature, and the '80s accessory has had a major comeback in recent years making Hey Harper's designs bang on trend.
