15 Best Blush Brushes in 2023

Consider the type of brush

When referencing foundation brushes, Reiko Brown has told Cosmo that the brush you choose depends on what type of coverage or intensity you're going for—the same applies to blush brushes. If you want a softer, more natural application, go for a fluffier brush, whereas if you're looking for a more pigmented finish, a dense brush will pack on the color.

Dorman says that the best type of blush brush will not exceed the size of the apple of your cheek. It's also important to consider where you will be applying the blush. If it's on the apple of the cheek, go with a rounder-shaped brush. If you prefer your blush higher on the cheekbone (hi, it me), an angled brush is the one for you.

Determine the blush formulation

And finally, you've gotta keep in mind the type of blush you're applying. There are three main types of blush: Powder, cream, and liquid. And because I tend to use all three, I switch off between a few—use a fluffier, round, or angled brush for powder blush and a stippling, or denser brush for liquid and cream blushes.
